About the Job:

As a Developer Educator, you’ll serve developers by inspiring and equipping them to build with LaunchDarkly. Technical tutorials, code samples, demo applications, documentation, prototypes / proofs of concept applications, and speaking at online and offline events are all in your purview. Your focus areas among these will depend on your skills and how you can best serve software developers in your programming community

Responsibilities:

  • Write code that enables developers to be successful with LaunchDarkly. This code may be part of our documentation, technical tutorials on the blog, an open source project, or another developer service, but regardless of where it ends up, you’re figuring out how to inspire and equip developers with code that makes it as easy as possible for them to get to success.

  • Work closely with the Product team to ensure that our products are developer-centric and that we get the details right for them.

  • Mentor other Developer Educators and Developer Experience Engineers on the team. We have a lot of raw talent on the team that can develop into great senior leaders of their own with the right guidance, both in technical areas and more broadly in doing right by our colleagues and customers.

  • Assist our docs team in determining the information architecture for our documentation, and work with them to execute on it. We aim to get developers to “aha!” with LaunchDarkly as quickly as possible, and then equip them to adopt increasingly advanced features of our platform.

  • Create projects & tutorials with our API and interact with developers in our community. You will both create tutorials yourself and work with others to expand the number of high quality tutorials on the blog.

  • Determine the current and future direction of our developer outreach channels such as blog, docs, YouTube, social, Discord and others. We aim to drive the business by doing right by our technical audience and serving those that need to build with our product. Figuring out how to constantly improve how we serve these users is critical to success in this role and to the company’s trajectory.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in at least one programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, C#, or PHP

  • Firsthand knowledge of DevOps, modern software development, and the software development space.

  • Self-starter attitude, empathetic, and motivated to serve developers and make the colleagues around you better

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 3:

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area (if not Bay area specific role): $138,000 - $162,000**

  • Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $124,000 - $146,000**

LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

*Within the United States, our geographic pay zones are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
**Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare "big-bang" technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages

  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts

  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize

  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types

  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability
