Engineering at Brex

The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for both internal and external users. We have multiple autonomous and collaborative teams who are eager to learn, teach, and constantly improve how things work. What you’ll do

As a Senior Software Engineer, Growth (Backend), you will help Brex unlock the next millions of customers across various new verticals by designing and building highly efficient and scalable funnels. You will create intelligent systems to optimize conversion rates and drive operational efficiency. As one of the early engineers on this newly formed team, you will have the opportunity to significantly impact our growth trajectory and scale our Sales and Marketing functions through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end features in Kotlin and Retool
  • Maintain quality through test coverage & code reviews
  • Support our growth systems in production
  • Utilize A/B testing for data-driven decision-making to optimize funnels
  • Think like our customers and prospects
  • Have an opinion when presented with product proposals to drive revenue, customer growth, retention, and engagement
  • Mentor and support other developers on the team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and marketing teams to implement growth initiatives

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development and growth initiatives; you already have a strong grasp on growth engineering and are ready to dive into it at Brex
  • Strong system design and database skills; you understand how to work with large amounts of data, and can speak to how you have done it successfully in the past
  • Previous experience defining new projects that can deliver on business goals
  • Experience setting up A/B tests and interpreting results
  • Ability to build UI in Retool 
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, sales, business, and design teams to drive impact on our customers and key metrics
  • Must be willing to work in the office 2 days per week, on Wednesday and Thursday

Bonus points

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI and ML solutions, with a strong understanding of model training, evaluation, and optimization
  • A willingness to get into React as necessary
  • Experience with Hex

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $192,000 - $240,000 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
